Abraham has been with Crewcut for almost 20 years. He started running his franchise in 2002. It was his first job and the only job he’s had since arriving in New Zealand. He is a fan of Shindaiwa gear and mentions that Lynfield Chainsaws and Mowers is his preferred shop. He does some ride-on work, which is pretty cool for an urban area like Auckland.

Offering lawn mowing and general property maintenance services primarily in Mt. Roskill, he seems to have a good grasp of what the job entails and has made it work for preferences perfectly through the years. “When I joined, Crewcut wasn’t the top brand; it was the second one. I didn’t go for the first one because I knew it would be too much for me. I wanted flexible hours. I don’t want to work seven days a week,” he shares.

He says his best skill in the business is his customer skills. “Every customer wants me to keep them. Nobody wants to change,” Abraham says. He likes working alone and considers himself a hard worker. Having customers is only halfway, the rest is trying to work hard and deliver the best service possible.

When he’s not doing his job, he says he just washes up his car and spends the rest of his leisure time reading. He says that just last Tuesday, someone came to him asking if he wants any extra work. He said, “I think I can get more if I want to. I’m with Crewcut.” He says it’s good if you want the money, but for someone like him who’s not getting any younger, he’s currently at a point where he’s slowing down and changing his working method. He is quite the character, and he’s one of those few operators who have really nailed how the business should work for him down to a T.
