For many, if not all, family comes first. But while that sets one’s priorities, it doesn’t mean you can’t pursue other goals. This was the case for family man Ben hailing from Whanganui. Having a young family, the desire to spend time more with them is what served as a motivation to get the lawn mowing business up and running.

“We needed more flexibility to spend time with our girls. Crewcut allowed our family to be more flexible and spend more time together. Also, there is nothing more satisfying than a freshly mowed lawn,” Ben shares. Previously a meat worker and now, as a Crewcut operator for over half a year now, he found that his best skills at work are getting the job done to the customers’ request and his sharp attention to detail. He has also already managed to learn a lot such as the dire importance of scheduling your time to maximise productivity.

When not at work with his chosen tools: the Stihl and Lawnmaster, he likes to spend time with family, go hunting, and play sports. These, he does, while still keeping his eyes on the goal: to continue to grow his customer base over the next 6 months while still maintaining a high level of service.

As a friendly word of advice for other Crewcut operators who might just be learning the ropes, he shares, “Talk to your customers so you know exactly what they are after and do not be afraid to ask questions to other operators”.
