Matt has joined Crewcut to serve the Paengaroa, Maketu, Te Puke, Otumoetai, Bethlehem, and Te Puna areas. With his Walker ride on and Husqvarna hand equipment, he is ready to provide lawn mowing, green waste removal and hedge trimming. He comes from 15 years of experience working with fruit and vegetables with 10 of those years spent in Melbourne ripening them before they’re ready for sale. Once he moved back to New Zealand he tried out commercial fishing for a couple of months but quickly found out he gets pretty seasick.

It prompted him to find a career where he can work for himself and have his own hours now that he has a family. He found a listing for a Crewcut business on Trademe and got the reviews from other franchisees and was convinced by the regional manager that this was the next step for him. His goal is to create a lifestyle/work balance. By growing the business to a point where he can do with some help, that would be ideal with someone to talk to. With a bit of help from his wife on the accounts, the business is a growing success.

Matt has been in the fruit and vegetable industry since he was young, so he has had plenty of experience driving heavy machinery. And as any other kid would, he mowed his parent’s lawn so he has the invaluable experience of keeping them happy. Since joining Crewcut he has learnt much more about approaching different lawns by looking at the height of the lawn cut and making sure there is an even cut. The advice he’d give to those who are looking into a lawn mowing franchise is to look at the brand’s reputation. Do your research on the brand, and be sure to ask plenty of questions. Also, be sure to research into all the gear you’ll need.
