After 10 years of working for a fresh produce company, Matthew eventually had a light bulb moment and decided he wanted to work for himself. Not only that but he also wanted to have more time at home with his wife and their young kids. After seeing an ad on TradeMe, Matthew proceeded to buy his own Crewcut Lawn and Garden franchise, where he has been the proud owner now for over five years.

Matthew's goal is simple: to build a successful business that will also provide the flexibility to spend time with his family. The past few years have taught him a lot about running a small business. While his wife helps out with the admin, Matthew provides ride-on lawn mowing, weed eating, and hedge trimming services, aided by his Walker Ride-on and Husqvarna tools. He prides himself on maintaining good relationships with his customers and always makes an effort to say 'hi' or have a quick chat, something he would also advise newcomers.

When not at work, Matthew enjoys camping and spending time with his family.
