Before joining Crewcut, Mark ran his own plumbing company for 31 years. His desire for a change in lifestyle while wanting to remain working outdoors and staying active attracted him to the brand. “Crewcut had the backup that I was looking for,” he says.

He said his goal for the business over the next six months is to increase his customer base to around 80 clients. Having decades of previous experience in a service-based business with a customer focus and having the physical ability to perform most tasks efficiently would clearly get him to this stage in no time. 

In his spare time, he loves motor racing. He has two race cars and also collects classic cars. Aside from being occupied with his hobbies, he enjoys spending time with his family and travelling with his wife Raewyn. 

The biggest thing he’s learned since joining Crewcut is the ability to constantly change to meet the needs of the clients. Customers would always want different things, and it’s best to always communicate clearly to manage expectations and clarify job scopes.

Mark’s advice to those who are interested in a lawn mowing business is to try to work three to four weeks in the business you wish to purchase prior to buying. He also suggests developing a broad range of skills to gain other income options during quieter times of the year.
