- All over Whangarei
Barry is fairly new to the Crewcut business, but provides his services all over the Whangarei area. He has no particular brand preference as yet, just working with what’s good quality. Right now Barry works with an Akita Honda and a Turfmaster. Before Barry joined Crewcut he managed a concrete supplier plant for nine years that made concrete building blocks. The long hours working 5am-7pm didn’t leave too much time for his family so he looked into a change in career. Barry chose lawn mowing because he likes to be outside, to take each day as it comes and changes with the weather. He chose Crewcut because he felt there was more stability, in the right place in the market with it’s competition. As Barry grows his business he would like to bring a few more people on board to work with, he has just one person who helps right now. He also does all the administration himself so that takes up a few hours each week.
In his free time Barry likes to get into golf, gardening and sometimes fishing. But family time is the most important. Having a background in farming definitely helps with the business, as well as being self driven and disciplined makes a difference. The biggest challenge he would say is the account managing and learning different tools. His advice to new franchisees would be to know who you are buying a franchise from, to make sure the fact are all legal and correct.
